As per the 2010 US Census, Rhode Island is known to be the 2nd most densely populated and the 8th least populous of the 50 United States. The population enumerated in the Twenty-third census was 1,052,567 (approx), which was an increase of 0.4% from the Census 2000.
Rhode Island Federal Census was first taken in 1790 and continued every ten years, thereafter. However, the 1890 population records were completely burned in the 1920 warehouse fire. The RI State Censuses were conducted in the following years: 1774, 1777 and 1782 (partial records exist) including 1865, 1875, 1885, 1905, 1915, 1925 and 1935.
